Week 7 Planning - Materials

My theatre and gallery will be built and modelled around a new digital material that is sensitive to many elements - the Hyposurface.

I will also incorporate a security screening technology - Adaptive Fritting.

I was trying to work out how to incorporate Dynamic Architecture into my building while keeping it low key and open, not effecting the thoroughfare of the HSW current users. I came across the Seagaia Ocean Dome (Closed 2007) and its retractable roof (ignore the craziness of the video...)

Week 5 Brief

  • By day - Gallery
  • By night - Open-Air Music Theatre
  • Modular Architecture
  • Dynamic Architecture
  • Digitally enhanced control of space
  • Acoustically set up for area/site
  • Changeable
  • Multi-purpose
  • Indoor/Outdoor
  • Link to Site history, materials, layout etc.
  • Care to Heritage listing and public/current users
My first thoughts surrounding my project relate to the Heritage and Cultural significance of this site, and the many passionate public members who don't want to see this site built up.

With this in mind, I believe my idea to create an editable space that is more or less open where it can be open allows for both a new and usable space, while keeping the natural elements of its space and its history mostly undamaged, and hopefully enhanced. As an open space this will allow its users to experience both the built environment and the natural and historical environment at the same time.
